Sacrament of 1st Reconciliation
Congratulations to all of our second graders who made their First Reconciliation last night. Thank you, Mrs. Schmidt, for your guidance and instruction in helping to prepare these children to receive this sacrament. Please continue to keep these children in your prayers as they begin their preparation for the sacrament of First Communion. These blessed and special children are:

Catholic Schools Week January 27th - February 2nd

Come help us kick off Catholic Schools Week! We are looking forward to celebrating the beginning of Catholic Schools Week this Sunday at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. Students will process in with Father DeBlock and then sit with their families. Be sure to have your child wear his/her uniform to earn a Free Dress Down Day pass! If you can't make it to our 9:30 a.m. Mass, students may wear their uniforms to a different Mass. Either way, please be sure to stop by the table in the Narthex to pick up your Dress Down Day coupon and a donut! Hope to see you there!
2nd Quarter Reports Cards
2nd Quarter report   cards for your child have been published and are available for viewing through your Schoolspeak account. Please make sure to electronically sign off on the card after viewing it. 2nd Quarter Honor Roll and Artist Spotlight Awards will be given to students on Friday, February 1st immediately following the 9:00 AM School Mass on Grandparents and Special Friends' Day.
Registration for the 2019-2020 School Year is now open
Registration for current school families for the 2019-2020 school year is now open through your Schoolspeak account. In order to ensure your child's spot for next year, please complete the online registration process by Thursday, February 28th. The non-refundable registration fee is $100.00 per family if paid on or before February 28th. Beginning March 1st, the registration fee will be $175.00 per family. Tuition must be current before your child's registration will be accepted for next year. If you have questions about your current statement, please contact the school office to set up an appointment with Miss Cannon.
Please make sure to complete your registration by February 28th to confirm your child's placement for next year. We are not able to reserve a spot for your child if the registration has not been turned in. If you have any questions about the registration process, please contact the school office.
Message from Principal Cannon
CALLING ALL MOMS! We are looking for moms who are interested in meeting every Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 - 3:00 to watch a spiritual video together and then discuss the video. You will not need a babysitter because your child(ren) will be in school. I will be leading the small group discussion. I hope you can find time in your busy schedule to join us every Tuesday starting February 19th. I have already gone through the program and the videos are very good. They are thought provoking and elicit lots of discussion. If you are interested, please email me at . I hope you can join us!
Birthday Boxes for FISH Food Pantry due Monday, January 28th
It's not to late to have your child bring in their classroom donation for our FISH Food Pantry Birthday Boxes!  Each grade has been assigned a special part for this project. If everyone participates we hope to be able to make some birthdays a little more special for people that visit the food pantry. We are hoping to donate 50 Birthday Boxes. Please see the attached flyer to see what your child is being asked to donate for this project. Every classroom will help in assembling the birthday boxes during Catholic Schools Week. Last day to bring in items will be on Monday, January 28th. Thank you!
Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest on Saturday, February 2nd
The Knights of Columbus will be hosting their annual Free Throw Contest on Saturday, February 2nd from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM in the school gym. Boys and girls ages 9 - 14 are invited to participate in this event. Please see the attached flyers for more information and to register for the event.
Home & School Dine and Share Event - Saturday January 26th
Hire a sitter & come out to Crystal Lake Brewing on Saturday, January 26, from noon to 5:00 pm. Crystal Lake Brewing will donate 25% of our purchases back to St. Catherine's school! It will be a fun afternoon getting to know other parents. We'll also be selling Super Bowl squares for $20 per square. Hope to see you there!
Grandparents and Special Friends' Day - RSVP form attached
Our special celebration to recognize Grandparents and special friends will take place next Friday, February 1st. We have received an overwhelming response for this event and are looking forward to a full house! Mass will begin promptly at 9:00 AM followed by Honor Roll and Artist Spotlight Awards. Students will give a short performance in the church for their families before moving to the school for activities and refreshments. The event is on a half day of school and children can be dismissed with their grandparents or per normal dismissal routines 11:30 AM. 
If you have not yet turned in your RSVP please do so by Monday, January 28th. Any parents interested in helping with check in or serving refreshments should please contact Susan Holland.
Southern Belle's and Grandparents Day Dine and Share 
Next Friday after the school events for Grandparents/Special Friend's Day, please consider joining us for lunch at Southern Belle's for lunch. Southern Belle's will donate 20% of all dining purchases back to St. Catherine. They serve delicious breakfast & lunch foods. A flyer is required at the time of purchase and will be sent home with students next week. See you there! 
Many Gifts, One Nation: A Day of Giving to Catholic Schools - flyer attached
St. Catherine of Siena is participating in a nationwide campaign called, "Many Gifts: A Day of Giving to Catholic Schools." Attached to this Dialogue you will find specific details regarding this campaign that will take place for 24 hours only! It will be open Jan. 29 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time and run until Jan. 20 12:00 Eastern Time. Please prayerfully consider participating in the nationwide campaign. 
Box Tops for Education Contest - flyer attached
Our winter box tops classroom competition is now underway and will continue through Friday, February 1st! Remember - every clip counts! Look for those box tops on cereal, snacks, and paper products you already purchase and help our school earn FREE money. You can turn in box tops in a ziploc bag, envelope, or box top form labeled with your child's classroom teacher. The winning classroom will receive a special treat!

St. Catherine's Athletic program is now offering spirit wear for sale! Please click on the following link to place your order for these great spirit wear items . We encourage people to place their order online, however you can print off the form and turn the order in to the school office. A portion of every sale will go towards purchases for our athletic program. Please place your order soon before our next Spirit Wear Day.
SAVE THE DATE: Daddy Daughter Date Night
It is almost time for our Daddy/Daughter dance! Girls start picking out your outfit and dads, start practicing your favorite dance moves! Please mark your calendars for Friday, February 8th from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm for this special night. Invitations were sent home this past week. 
Pictures needed for our School Yearbook!
This is a plea for your help!!!!! I am working on the 2018-19 yearbook and I am in desperate need of pictures from you. Any photos of classroom parties, any school events, and/or sporting events are needed to fill the pages of our upcoming yearbook. I would greatly appreciate any contributions. Photos can be submitted via email if you have a few that you want to share. If you have a larger number of photos to share, then you could also send them to school copied to a flash drive or CD and mark them to the attention Mrs. Oskorep. I will be prompt in copying the images and returning the materials to you. (If you wish to send actual photos, then I can scan them and return the photos to you.) PLEASE submit your images as soon as possible.
Christmas Cards Wanted
As you are putting away the Christmas decorations and tiding up from the holidays, please remember to save your used Christmas cards. We use discarded Christmas cards for lots of different art projects. Please send the cards to school marked to the attention of Art Dept/Mrs. Oskorep. Thank you and Happy New Year!!!
TRIP (Tuition Reduction Incentive Program)
Will you be shopping for Valentine's Day soon? Shop with Scrip offers several options to plan for that special day! Surprise your special someone with gift cards for their favorite stores or restaurants. 1-800-Flowers also is part of the scrip program and offers a rebate of 12%. Our next TRIP order will be placed on Monday, January 29th but you can always order Scripnow cards and reload current cards anytime.
