November 22, 2019
Come on out this weekend and join us at our annual craft fair!
It is a great way to get some early shopping done for those special people on your Christmas list!
Baker's Needed for Craft Fair
It's not too late to bake some goodies for St. Catherine's bake sale booth at the Craft and Vendor Fair which is taking place this Sunday, November 24th. We are looking for volunteers to help supply the booth with lots of home baked goodies. Please drop off the baked goods to the school between 7:30 - 8:30 am Sunday morning. All proceeds from the sale will benefit our 8th graders trip to Springfield in May. Thank you for your support!
Pennies for Pies Update
Dear School Families,
National Honor Junior Society would like to thank everyone who donated to the Pennies for Pies Contest. With your help, we were able to raise enough money to donate 260 pies to the F.I.S.H. Food Pantry to be used for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. The classes that collected the most funds were 4th grade in first place, 2nd grade in second, and 1st grade in third place. Thank you again for your bountiful generosity. We would like to wish all of our St. Catherine families a very Happy Thanksgiving!  God bless!
Treats for Troops, Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who turned in donations for our “Treats for Troops.” The donations filled four large boxes which were dropped off this past week at a collection site for shipment. The candy will be delivered to the troops very soon. Way to go, St. Catherine’s!
Let's Stay Healthy (flyer attached)
Students in grades PK3 - 4th grade attended a special informational assembly this morning to learn some great tips on how to stay healthy this winter. A big thank you to Nurse Renee for coming out to visit us! Please see the attached information for more information about everyday preventative actions we can take to help fight off cold and flu germs.
Santa's Secret Shop
Santa's Secret Shop will be returning to St. Catherine's this year on December 10th and 11th. Envelopes will be sent home with students after Thanksgiving to help them plan for their shopping. Students will have an opportunity to pick up special gifts for families members during school hours. Most gifts range in price from .50 cents to $11.00. The average gift is in the $2.00 - $3.00 range. Please watch the Dialogue for more information to come regarding this fun event.
Breakfast with Baby Jesus
Please join us for Breakfast with Baby Jesus on Saturday, December 14th from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. This wonderful tradition includes a hot breakfast (pancakes, eggs, sausage) & light continental breakfast. We will have special crafts, music by our school band, and a nativity story and procession.
In honor of Jesus' Birthday, we are asking for donations to help the neediest babies in our community. We will be donating the items to The Community Crises Center in Elgin. They are in desperate need of diapers (sizes 4, 5 & 6) and baby wipes. If you are unable to attend, a donation box will be set up in the school lobby. Invitations will be sent home with students next week so please make sure to check your child's backpack. RSVP's are requested to attend this special breakfast.
Band Concert for St. Catherine Students
St. Catherine's band students will participate in a band concert at St. John's Lutheran School located at 109 N. Spring Street in Elgin on Tuesday, December 10th. The Beginner Concert will start at 6:00 pm and the Intermediate and Advanced bands will perform at 7:00 pm. Please come out to support our students, along with several other local schools, as they perform for the Christmas season!
Last chance to donate Fabric and Band-aid Drive for Mercy Health
Help support an 8th grade Genius Hour Project by donating to the Fabric and Band-aid Drive for the Child Life Department at Mercy Health in the Rockford Region. The Fabric and Band-aid drive will give children needing a medical procedure a small choice in adding comfort to their procedure or surgery by being able to choose a fun patterned surgical cap and or a IV cover. Donations of new, unused, and fun looking band-aids and fabrics need to be received by November 25th. Bins for supplies will be in the Narthex of the Parish and in the lobby of the school. Material requirements: surgical cap fabrics need to be 100% cotton, IV covers need to be a stretch knit containing 4-6% spandex. Band-aids must be Latex free and preferably 3 inches long. For any additional questions and information, please contact Sabrina Diamond and Taylor Petruczenko in 8th grade or email them at medicalminors@gmail.com. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Christmas Program Information
Our annual school Christmas program will be held on Thursday, December 12th at 6:00 PM in the church. Please mark you calendars for this wonderful holiday tradition!
Save money on your tuition! (Order form attached)
It's not too late to stock up on gift cards for your Thanksgiving dinner! Stop by the office to pick up gift cards for Jewel, Woodman's, Target, Meijer, or Walmart. Every card purchased will result in a rebate back towards your tuition! Why not save money on tuition for things you will be already be buying?
For a limited time, we are attaching paper order forms to the Dialogue for you to use in placing TRIP orders. Please use this form to place and order any gifts cards you would like to purchase. The form, along with payment, should be returned to the school office on Monday mornings by 9:00 AM so that we can submit your order to the Scrip Center. Cards will be sent home with students on Wednesdays. This will hopefully give families the opportunity to try out the TRIP program to see how easy and convenient it is to save on tuition. This paper option will be available through December to help you with all your holiday shopping.
However, if you would like to place an order online or set up a TRIP account, please use the following link https://www.shopwithscrip.com. You will need the school code "2CL3966D181" in order to link your account to St. Catherine's so that you will start receiving credit on your tuition for orders. Our next order will be placed on Monday, December 2nd. Please have your payment into the school office by 9:00 am or pay online with your presto pay account. If you have any questions about how to use this program, please contact the school office.
