Message from Miss Cannon
Thank you to the many parents who expressed interest in joining the Education Commission. We have several applicants so we will no longer be taking applications. We will be deciding who will join the commission shortly after Fr. DeBlock returns from his sabbatical. Thank you again to the parents who are interested in being a part of the Education Commission.

Cold weather reminder
Now that the cooler weather has arrived, we would like to remind parents to make sure your child(ren) are dressed properly for outside recess with hats, mittens or gloves, winter coat, and boots if needed. Children in Kindergarten through 5th grade go outside daily for 20 minutes after lunch. Let's do our best to keep everyone warm!

NCEA Quarterly Newsletter for Parents (newsletter attached)
With Halloween fast approaching, many parents struggle to sort out the commercial aspect from the faithful observance of Halloween, including All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day. Sometimes the lines get blurred, but a quick guide like the October Parent Engagement flyer can give a good explanation about these "Days of the Dead" and offer ways to celebrate them as a family with the Catholic faith in mind. Please see the attached newsletter for information about the history of Halloween, All Saint's Day and All souls Day.

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent teacher conferences will take place on Friday, November 8th this year. We will have conferences from 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM. Sign up will be on Schoolspeak in a few weeks. The Rockford Diocese requires that all parents attend parent teacher conferences in the fall of each school year. If you have a conflict with this day, you may choose to arrange a time just before November 8th to meet with your child’s teacher either before or after school. Students in grades 6-8 should attend the parent teacher conference. Often employers will allow a parent to leave work to attend a parent teacher conference, so please check with your company, if necessary. The teachers look forward to talking with you about your child’s progress on November 8th.
