 Virtue of the month: Kindness

Virtues Program for the 2019-2020 School year
Each month throughout the school year all grades Pre-K3-8 will be concentrating on a different school-wide virtue. During the month of September we will focus on the virtue of kindness. “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.”-Luke 6:27-31 There are numerous opportunities in any given school day to show kindness towards others. Kindness may be demonstrated by such simple gestures as: holding a door for someone, helping a teacher, or giving encouragement to a classmate.  Our virtues program started last week in all of our classrooms. Showing kindness to others is such a great way begin our school year. Let’s all try to remember the following, “In a world where you can be anything, choose to be kind.”

By focusing on one virtue each month, our teachers and staff will have the chance to model, reinforce, and compliment students on their efforts to display the virtue of the month. When a new virtue is introduced, the one from the previous month should not be forgotten, but rather serve as a building block for the next one. Our virtues for the remainder of the year include: Humility, Gratitude, Joyfulness, Respect, Forgiveness, Self-Discipline, Faith and Persistence.
