This past Wednesday, thirteen of our students were inducted into the St. Catherine of Siena Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. In order to be considered as a candidate for induction into NJHS, students must maintain a 3.75 or above GPA from the beginning of 6th grade, perform a minimum of ten or more service hours, submit a written letter to Mrs. Oskorep as to why they would be a good candidate, and to show that they exemplify the qualities of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship, and Character. Congratulations to the following students on being selected for this honor:

Field Day and All School Picnic on Thursday, May 24th
St. Catherine's School will be having its annual Field Day for all students on Thursday, May 24th. This is a Home and School event that is being organized by our 3rd grade families. Permission slips were sent home with students last week and needed to be returned by Friday, May 18th. If your child has not turned in their permission slip yet, please make sure they bring it to school with them on Monday. The activities will take place in the morning and all students will participate. Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 will still be dismissed at the regular time of 11:00 AM.  Please apply sunscreen to your child before school and make sure they have a water bottle with them labeled with their name on it. Each class is being assigned a class color and students should wear a shirt of that color on Field Day. The class colors are:
 
PK3, PK4, and 6th grade - Purple                  
Kindergarten and 7th grade -  Orange
1st grade - Blue 
2nd grade - Green
3rd grade - Red
4th grade - Black
5th grade - Yellow
8th grade - Class Shirts 
 
St. Catherine's Student Council is also organizing an all school picnic on Thursday, May 24th right after Field Day. Student Council will provide each student with a hot dog, chips, and dessert. Students should bring their own drink. If your child would prefer not to eat the hot dog lunch, they are welcome to bring a lunch from home for the picnic. The regular hot lunch scheduled for Thursday will not be served.  Please see the attached flyer for more information regarding the picnic. It will take place at 11:45 a.m. immediately after the morning of Field Day for grades K-8. Thank you!

FACTS Tuition Management- Registration now due
Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, St. Catherine's will be using FACTS Tuition Management company to manage and process our tuition payments and statements. All families will need to sign up to use this service for their tuition payments. A letter from Miss Cannon was sent out to families in April explaining the details why we are moving forward with a tuition management company. Many of the local catholic schools and high schools are already using FACTS as a way of collecting tuition.
 
Families will be given three options in setting up their payments: A one time payment in full due in August; two semi-annual payments due in August and January; or a monthly payment spread over a ten month period beginning in August and ending in May. Book Fees and Technology Fees will still be due in July. Payments will need to be linked to a credit card or a checking account. An enrollment fee with FACTS is required for families choosing the monthly or semi-annual payment. Families choosing the option to pay the tuition in full in August will not be required to pay an enrollment fee.

We need all returning school families to register with FACTS by Friday, May 11th so that we have time to set up the accounts before billing begins in July. Families will need to be current with their tuition from this school year in order to register for FACTS. If you have questions about how to register or would like more information about FACTS, please contact the school office or Miss Cannon.
 
Grant and Aid Application through FACTS - We have now partnered with FACTS to offer families the option to complete the FACTS Grant and Aid Application for financial assistance. Families interested in seeking aid will need to complete the online application in its entirety and Fr. DeBlock will review your application and determine the amount of aid to be awarded to the applicant. This process will help Fr. DeBlock make a more informed decision when deciding on financial assistance. Miss Cannon emailed a letter to families a few weeks ago which explains in greater detail the grant and aid application process. Please review Miss Cannon's letter to see if applying for the grant and aid may be something you would like to consider for your family.
 
2017-2018 Tuition and Lunch payments now due
All tuition, fees, and lunch balances for the 2017-2018 school year are now due. Statements were sent out on May 1st to all school families. As a reminder, 8th grade accounts must be paid in full in order for your child to participate in the graduation ceremony on May 25th. Payments may be made online with a credit card or checking/savings account through your Schoolspeak account or by cash or check in the school office.If you need a copy of your tuition statement, or have any questions about a remaining balance on your account, please contact the school office.
 
Vacation Bible School June 4th - June 8th - registration form attached
There’s still time to register for Marvelous Mystery, this year’s Vacation Bible School, June 48, 9:00 AM 12:00 noon, for grades PreK 4 through 6th. Come join the fun! Registration forms are attached to this Dialogue. Please complete and return to the Religious Education office as soon as possible.  
 
Reading Takes you Everywhere! - flyer attached
On Wednesday a representative from the Fox River Valley Library visited St. Catherine’s to speak with children in grades K-5 about their annual summer reading challenge. Please see the attached flyer to find out more about registration information for this program. The program runs from June 4-July 29
 
Used Uniform Sale on May 30th - flyer attached
The school will host an end of the year uniform sale on Wednesday, May 30. It will be held in the school lobby from 8:00 until 3:30 p.m. We are looking to sell uniform jumpers, skirts, spiritwear, and gently used sweatshirts. We will not be taking any boys uniform pants or shirts for this sale. Uniforms should be dropped off by Tuesday, May 29th. Please make sure to clearly label each item with your name and the amount you are asking and complete the attached form to turn in with your items.
 
St. Edward High School Summer Camps - Information attached
St. Edward High School is offering several camps this summer from sports to music. Please check out the attached camp schedule to check out what camps are available. Camps are available to students entering Kindergarten - high school. 
 
Bus Service Information - Flyer attached
Thursday, May 24th will be the last day bus service will be available for our students for this school year. Please make sure to have alternate transportation arrangements for your child(ren) beginning Friday, May 25th.
 
D300 will still provide afternoon bus service for our students for the 2018 - 2019 school year. If your child is currently riding the bus or if you are interested in bus service for next year please complete the attached bus form and return it to school by Friday, May 18th. In order for students to be eligible for bus service they must live within certain D300 school boundaries. If you have any questions about the bus service, please contact the school office.
 
Chili's "Dine to Donate" during the month of May - vouchers attached
St. Catherine's Home and School has partnered with Chili's Restaurants in West Dundee, Algonquin, and South Elgin to offer a month long "Dine to Donate" fundraiser. From May 1st - May 31st, Chili's will donate 15% of food sales back to our Home and School when you use one of the attached Chili vouchers. All proceeds from this month long event will go towards Home and School's air conditioning fundraiser, textbooks, and other important items for our students! Offer is valid for Dine In or To Go orders. Please share the extra vouchers attached to this dialogue with friends and family. Thank you!
 
Summer Volleyball and Basketball Camps at St. Catherine's - registration forms attached
St, Catherine's will be hosting a co-ed volleyball camp this summer for students in 5th-8th grade. Dates for the camp are July 30 - August 3 and will run from 9:00 - 11:00 AM. Julia Fahy, head volleyball coach at Judson University, will be running the camp.Please see the attached flyer for more information and to register your child for the camp.
 
Spartans Summer Basketball Camp will offer a basketball skills program to students entering 2nd - 8th grades. The camp will take place July 23-July 27 and there are three different sessions offered: Junior Spartans for boys and girls entering 2nd- 4th grade, girls entering 5th - 8th grade, and boys entering 5th - 8th grade. Mr. Dagamac, Mr. Ellett, and Mrs. Leadley will be running the camps.
 
Registration for both camps are due back to the school office by June 1st.
 
Scrip cards make wonderful graduation gifts!
With Memorial Day and graduation parties right around the corner, now is a great time to take advantage of our TRIP program to earn money towards your tuition bill. Families can purchase gift cards for use with many local vendors such as Jewel, Woodman's, Walmart, Target, Barnes and Noble, AMC, Meijer, Panera, Starbucks, etc. and many other stores all which give a rebate percentage back to you.
 
Create your own online TRIP account by signing up at https://www.shopwithscrip.com/ and place an order for next week to start earning money towards your tuition. The code to create an account is 2CL3966D181. Our next order will be placed on Monday, May 21st. Please have your TRIP order payment in the school office by 9:00 AM on Monday, May 21st if you have placed an order. If you have any questions about the program, please contact the school office.
 
Spartan Care position available for next year
We are currently looking to hire someone for our after school Spartan Care program for next year. The potential candidate should be available to work 1 or 2 afternoons per week from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. This is a paid position. Please contact Miss Cannon if you are interested in applying for the job.
