Registration for the 2018 - 2019 School Year is now open
Registration for current school families for the 2018 - 2019 school year is now open! Please login to your Schoolspeak account and click on the tab "Register for 2018-2019". In order to ensure your child's spot for next year, please complete the online registration process by Wednesday, February 28th. The non-refundable registration fee is $100.00 per family if paid on or before February 28th. After February 28th, the registration fee will be $175.00 per family. Tuition must be current before your child's registration will be accepted for next year. If you have questions about your current tuition statement, please contact the school office to set up an appointment with Miss Cannon.
Please make sure to complete your registration by February 28th to confirm your child's placement for next year. We are not able to reserve a spot for your child if the registration has not been turned in. If you have any questions about the registration process, please contact the school office.
Have you registered your Pre-K child yet?
Do you have any younger children at home that you are planning on sending to St. Catherine’s next school year? Did you know that new for next school year our Pre-K3 program will now be meeting three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. We are excited about our new 3 days a week program! Our Pre-K4 program will be held Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. If you would like any more information about our Pre-K program please contact Mrs. Johnson for Pre-K4 or Mrs. Urena for Pre-K3. We would love to tell you more about our program. St. Catherine’s Pre-K is a place where faith, friendship, and learning begins!

Dress Down Day February 16th
Student Council is organizing a student dress down day on Friday, February 16th. Students wishing to participate should wear something that represents their favorite college or favorite college colors. The cost for the dress down day is $1.00 and students should follow the guidelines in the Student Handbook for dress down days. All money collected will help fund the picnic lunch for students at the end of the year. 
Trivia Night Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Trivia Night last week! A wonderful time was had by all in attendance and it was a great success! We would like to thank Melissa Nosal, Missy Bluhm, Nora Duran, Alix Cunningham, Liz Prosser and the members of our Home and School Board who helped organize the evening. We would also like to thank the St. Catherine's Knights of Columbus who donated their time to run the bar and Fr. DeBlock and Miss Cannon who were our honorary judges for the evening. Congratulations to all the winners of the evening and we thank all of you for your support! 
The dress down day for students which was to take place on Friday, February 9th, will be rescheduled for families who donated wine or gift cards for the Trivia Night Gift Card basket and Wine Raffle.

Boys Volleyball Registrations Now Due - Form attached
Registrations for the boys volleyball season are now due. The season will run from mid-February through April. If your child is interested in participating in volleyball, please complete the attached registration form and return it to the school office by Monday, February 12th. We need to see how many boys will be playing in order to determine what teams we can field. Team pictures will be taken on Thursday, February 15th. 
We are also in need of parents to help coach the boys volleyball teams. If you are interested in coaching, please contact the school office for more information. We are hoping to have a great turnout of boys for the upcoming season!
7th and 8th Grade Dances - *Updated*
St. Joseph's school dance which was scheduled for Saturday, February 10th has been cancelled due to the winter weather affecting the area this weekend. St. Mary's dance will still take place on Friday, February 16th. We will notify school families about St. Joseph's dance when and if it is rescheduled.
Tax Information for 2017
Statements reflecting tuition payments from January 1, 2017 - December 31, 2017 were sent out via email two weeks ago. Please make sure to print out a copy of this statement for your records. If you did not receive this statement, please contact the school office and a copy will be sent to you.
Graduation Picture Day February 15th
Graduation Picture Day will Thursday, February 15th. This will be a dress down day for all 8th graders and they are welcome to dress up for their pictures. Pictures will be taken beginning at 8:30 AM. We will also be taking team sports pictures for BBB, GBB, and BVB so students in 5th - 7th grade should wear their sports uniform to school that day. We will start with Boys Basketball. Students should bring their school uniform to change into after their picture is taken. The boys basketball uniforms will be collected directly from the students after their picture is taken. Envelopes to order team pictures will be sent home with students next week and will need to be returned to school, with payment, by February 15th.
Center for the Gifted and Midwest Torrance Center for Creativity - flyers attached 
The Center for the Gifted and Midwest Torrance Center for Creativity (a partner with Northern Illinois University) will be offering Winter, Spring, and Summer classes for children ages three and a half to 8th grade.Students need not be tested or identified as gifted, just eager to learn!  We offer scholarships as well to qualifying families. S ummer classes are  offered for Pk-12th. There will be FREE bus service to Elmhurst programs  from several suburban locations this summer. Parents may enroll on our  website-  www.centerforgifted.org . For more information please see the attached flyers.
ALITHSA Registration Now Open
Algonquin Lake in the Hills Soccer Association in now taking registrations for their Spring season for ages 5 -14. Please log on to www.alithsa.org for more information about the league and how to register for the program.
Cub Scout Pack 3 Pinewood Derby Invite - Flyer attached
St. Catherine's Pack 3 Cub Scouts would like to invite anyone interested in joining the Cub Scouts or anyone who has every wanted to race a Pinewood Derby car (girls included), to join them on Sunday, February 11th for a Derby Car and Pizza event. The cost to participate in $5.00 and RSVP's are needed and should be sent to Tom Wilmot at Tom@WilmotCS.com by Firday, February 9th. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Valentine's Day Order Forms - Flyer attached
NJHS is sponsoring a fundraiser for F.I.S.H. Food Pantry and to defer the costs of the Birthday Boxes project for F.I.S.H. that are being made during Catholic Schools Week. They are selling valentines for 25¢ each or five for $1. Order forms were sent home with each student today. This as a great way to remember a special someone, friend, Mass Buddy, teacher, school secretary, or principal.
Last day to turn in an order form is Monday, February 12th. Please be sure to return the order forms marked to the attention of Mrs. Oskorep/ NJHS by that date . Valentines will be dispersed during Valentine’s Day parties and used to decorate student lockers and classroom doors of recipients.
Milk Payments for 2nd Semester now due
Milk payments for 2nd Semester are now due. Reminder notices were sent home with children last week if we have only received payment for the 1st semester. If your child did not order milk last semester but would like to receive milk for the remainder of the year, please send a check in the the amount of $35.00 made payable to St. Catherine's to the school office and they will be added to the milk list.
March Lunch Orders
The site is now open to place your lunch orders for March. It will remain open through Wednesday, February 21st. As a reminder, we are not able to add on orders once the site is closed so please be sure to place your orders soon.
Yearbook Pictures Needed!
This is a plea for your help!!!!! I am working on the 2016-17 yearbook and I am in desperate need of pictures from you. Any photos of classroom parties, school events, and sporting events are needed to fill the pages of our upcoming yearbook. I would greatly appreciate any contributions. Photos can be submitted via email if you have a few that you want to share. If you have a larger number of photos to share, then you could also send them to school copied to a flash drive or CD and mark them to the attention Mrs. Oskorep. I will be prompt in copying the images and returning the materials to you. (If you wish to send actual photos, then I can scan them and return the photos to you.) PLEASE submit your images as soon as possible.
Valentine Classroom Parties
Classroom parties on Valentine's Day will take place at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 13th for Kindergarten - 8th Grade. PK3 and PK4 will have their parties at 10:00 AM on February 13th. This will be a dress down day for students. Students may wear a red, pink, or white shirt and should follow the guidelines for dress down days in the Parent Handbook. Please make sure to submit a plan for the party to the homeroom teacher as soon as possible.
Mother/Son Date Night at the Main Event
The mother and son event will be held on Sunday March 4 . This exciting event will take place at The Main Event, 2575 Pratum Ave, Hoffman Estates , from 5-8 pm. Wristbands will be available for mothers and sons for $20.95 each. The wristbands include unlimited bowling, laser tag, ropes course, billiards, shuffle board, a 4 hour gaming card, 2 slices of pizza and a medium drink. Watch for sign up flyers in your child's folder.
TRIP (Tuition Reduction Incentive Program)
Will you be shopping for Valentine's Day soon? Shop with Scrip offers several options to plan for that special day! Surprise your special someone with gift cards to their favorite stores or restaurants. 1-800-Flowers also is part of the scrip program and offers a rebate of 12%. Our next TRIP order will be placed on Monday, February 12th, but you can always order Scripnow cards and reload current cards anytime.
To set up a new account go to https://www.shopwithscrip.com/ and click on the green "Get Started" tab at the top of the page. Enter in the school code "2CL3966D181" and start shopping! If you have any questions about the TRIP program, please contact the school office.
Volunteer needed for TRIP Program
We are looking for someone who might be able to help take over processing TRIP orders on a weekly basis for our families. No experience necessary - we will train you! The volunteer would need to be available on Monday mornings to place the orders with Great Lakes Scrip Center. It normally takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get everything processed. Please contact Mrs. Wirkus in the school office if you might be able to help. Thank you!
