Registration for the 2018 - 2019 School Year is now open
Registration for current school families for the 2018 - 2019 school year is now open! Please login to your Schoolspeak account and click on the tab "Register for 2018-2019". In order to ensure your child's spot for next year, please complete the online registration process by Wednesday, February 28th. The non-refundable registration fee is $100.00 per family if paid on or before February 28th. After February 28th, the registration fee will be $175.00 per family. Tuition must be current before your child's registration will be accepted for next year. If you have questions about your current tuition statement, please contact the school office to set up an appointment with Miss Cannon.
 
Please make sure to complete your registration by February 28th to confirm your child's placement for next year. We are not able to reserve a spot for your child if the registration has not been turned in. If you have any questions about the registration process, please contact the school office.

Super Bowl Squares - Table Decorating Contest

Super Bowl Squares are selling out fast! Purchase your squares before they are gone! Squares can be purchased in the school office until 3:30 pm today. The cost for each square is $20.00. If you are interested in purchasing one or more squares, please stop by or call the school office. Squares are sold on a first come basis.
 
 
Have you registered your Pre-K child yet?
Do you have any younger children at home that you are planning on sending to St. Catherine’s next school year? Did you know that new for next school year our Pre-K3 program will now be meeting three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. We are excited about our new 3 days a week program! Our Pre-K4 program will be held Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. If you would like any more information about our Pre-K program please contact Mrs. Johnson for Pre-K4 or Mrs. Urena for Pre-K3. We would love to tell you more about our program. St. Catherine’s Pre-K is a place where faith, friendship, and learning begins!
 
 
2nd Quarter Reports Cards
2nd Quarter report cards for your child have been published and are available for viewing through your Schoolspeak account. Please make sure to electronically sign off on the card after viewing it.  
 
 2nd Quarter Honor Roll
Congratulations to the following students who achieved First and Second Honors for the 2nd Quarter. Students were awarded their certificates at the Grandparent's Day Mass this past Wednesday. Students receiving 1st honors must have a GPA of 3.75 - 4.0 for the quarter. Students receiving 2nd honors must have a GPA of 3.5 -3.74. Congratulations students and keep up the great work!

7th and 8th Grade Dances
St. Joseph's School in Elgin will be hosting a dance for the 7th and 8th grade students on Saturday, February 10th from 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM. St. Mary's in Elgin will be hosting a 7th and 8th grade dance on Friday, February 16th. St. Mary's dance is the makeup dance from when it was cancelled at the beginning of the school year due to the excessive heat. More information about times and costs for these dances will be sent home with students next week. 
 
  
Tax Information for 2017
Statements reflecting tuition payments from January 1, 2017 - December 31, 2017 were emailed to "Invoiced Parents" last week. Please make sure to print out a copy of this statement for your records. If you did not receive this statement, please contact the school office and a copy will be sent to you.
 
 
Volunteer needed for TRIP Program
We are looking for someone who might be able to help take over processing TRIP orders on a weekly basis for our families. No experience necessary - we will train you! The volunteer would need to be available on Monday mornings to place the orders with Great Lakes Scrip Center. It normally takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get everything processed. Please contact Mrs. Wirkus in the school office if you might be able to help. Thank you!
 
 
Reporting School Absences
With the return to school and the flu season upon us, we just wanted to share a few quick reminders if your child is sick or has missed a day of school.
  • If your child will be absent from school, please call or email the school office by 9:00 AM on the day of the absence.
  • If your child is sent home from school with a fever, he/she must be fever free for 24 hours without being on fever reducing medication before they are allowed to return to school.
  • Please notify the school office if your child has been diagnosed with a case of Strep throat.
  • Students exhibiting stomach flu symptoms should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Please encourage your child to wash their hands frequently, sneeze and/or cough into their elbow.
  • Students must bring a note with them when returning to school explaining why they were absent.
Science Fair Judges Needed - Friday, February 9th
Mrs. Rossi is looking for volunteers to act as Science Fair judges on Friday, Feb 9th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the school gym. No experience necessary! Please contact Mrs. Rossi at rossim@st-cath.net if you think you can help out. Thank you!
 
Graduation Picture Day - February 15th
Graduation Picture Day will take place on Thursday, February 15th. This will be a dress down day for all 8th graders and they are welcome to dress up for their pictures. Pictures will be taken beginning at 8:30 AM. We will also be taking team sports pictures for BBB, GBB, and BVB so students in 5th - 7th grade should wear their sports uniform to school that day. We will start with Boys Basketball. Students should bring their school uniform to change into after their picture is taken. The boys basketball uniforms will be collected directly from the students after their picture is taken. Envelopes to order team pictures will be sent home with students next week and will need to be returned to school, with payment, by February 15th. 
 
 
ALITHSA Registration Now Open - flyer attached
Algonquin Lake in the Hills Soccer Association in now taking registrations for their Spring season for ages 5 -14. Please see the attached flyer for more information about the league and how to register for the program.  
 
 
Cub Scout Pack 3 Pinewood Derby Invite - Flyer attached
St. Catherine's Pack 3 Cub Scouts would like to invite anyone interested in joining the Cub Scouts or anyone who has every wanted to race a Pinewood Derby car (girls included), to join them on Sunday, February 11th for a Derby Car and Pizza event. The cost to participate in $5.00 and RSVP's are needed and should be sent to Tom Wilmot at Tom@WilmotCS.com by Firday, February 9th. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
 
 
Valentine's Day Order Forms - Flyer attached
NJHS is sponsoring a fundraiser for F.I.S.H. Food Pantry and to defer the costs of the Birthday Boxes project for F.I.S.H. that are being made during Catholic Schools Week. They are selling valentines for 25¢ each or five for $1. Order forms were sent home with each student today. This as a great way to remember a special someone, friend, Mass Buddy, teacher, school secretary, or principal. 
 
Last day to turn in an order form is Friday, February 9th. Please be sure to return the order forms marked to the attention of Mrs. Oskorep/ NJHS by that date . Valentines will be dispersed during Valentine’s Day parties and used to decorate student lockers and classroom doors of recipients.
 
Milk Payments for 2nd Semester
Milk payments for 2nd Semester are now due. Reminder notices were sent home with children today if we have only received payment for the 1st semester. If your child did not order milk last semester but would like to receive milk for the remainder of the year, please send a check in the the amount of $35.00 made payable to St. Catherine's to the school office and they will be added to the milk list.
 
Pictures needed for our School Yearbook!
This is a plea for your help!!!!! I am working on the 2017-18 yearbook and I am in desperate need of pictures from you. Any photos of classroom parties, school events, and sporting events are needed to fill the pages of our upcoming yearbook. I would greatly appreciate any contributions. Photos can be submitted via email if you have a few that you want to share. If you have a larger number of photos to share, then you could also send them to school copied to a flash drive or CD and mark them to the attention Mrs. Oskorep. I will be prompt in copying the images and returning the materials to you. (If you wish to send actual photos, then I can scan them and return the photos to you.) PLEASE submit your images as soon as possible.
 
 
Daddy Daughter Date Night
Thank you to all who participated in this year's hootin' and hollerin' great time at the Daddy Daughter western themed date night! A great time was had by all in attendance. A special shout out thank you to Jenny Simmons and Chamaine Biosca for chairing the event and helping to make such special memories for our families!
 
Mother/Son Date Night at the Main Event
The mother and son event will be held on  Sunday March 4 . This exciting event will take place at The Main Event, 2575 Pratum Ave, Hoffman Estates , from 5-8 pm. Wristbands will be available for mothers and sons for $20.95 each. The wristbands include unlimited bowling, laser tag, ropes course, billiards, shuffle board, a 4 hour gaming card, 2 slices of pizza and a medium drink. Watch for sign up flyers in your child's folder.
 
 
TRIP (Tuition Reduction Incentive Program)
Will you be shopping for Valentine's Day soon? Shop with Scrip offers several options to plan for that special day! Surprise your special someone with gift cards to their favorite stores or restaurants. 1-800-Flowers also is part of the scrip program and offers a rebate of 12%. Our next TRIP order will be placed on Monday, February 5th, but you can always order Scripnow cards and reload current cards anytime.
