Catholic Schools Week is almost upon us! This year's theme is Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed. Each day of the week, beginning

we will celebrate our students. Wednesday we will have Grandparents Day and celebrate our nation. Thursday we will celebrate vocations.

Registration for the 2018 - 2019 School Year
Registration for the 2018 - 2019 school year will open via your Schoolspeak account in the next few weeks. We will soon be sending out an email to all school families with an updated tuition schedule, information on how to access the online registration, and general information about the upcoming school year. January tuition statements were emailed out to parents on January 8th. Tuition must be current before your child's registration will be accepted for next year. If you have questions about your current statement, please contact the school office to set up an appointment with Miss Cannon.

Super Bowl Squares - Table Decorating Contest
Registration Deadline January 29th
Must be 21 or older to attend
Super Bowl Squares will be available for purchase in the school office beginning Tuesday, January 16th. The cost for each square is $20.00. If you are interested in purchasing one or more squares, please stop by or call the school office. Squares are sold on a first come basis.
We are also in need of extra volunteers to help set up tables on Friday afternoon, sell raffle tickets between rounds the night of the event, and help clean up at the end of the night. If you are available for even a small amount of time in any of these areas, please contact Melissa Nosal at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any time given to help out is greatly appreciated!
School Absences and Illnesses
With the return to school and the flu season upon us, we just wanted to share a few quick reminders if your child is sick or has missed a day of school.
If your child will be absent from school, please call or email the school office by 9:00 AM on the day of the absence.
If your child is sent home from school with a fever, he/she must be fever free for 24 hours without being on fever reducing medication before they are allowed to return to school.
Please notify the school office if your child has been diagnosed with a case of Strep throat.
Students exhibiting stomach flu symptoms should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Please encourage your child to wash their hands frequently, sneeze and/or cough into their elbow.
Students must bring a note with them when returning to school explaining why they were absent.
Let's do our best to stay healthy this year!
Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest on Saturday January 27th - flyers attached
The Knights of Columbus will be hosting their annual Free Throw Contest on Saturday, January 27th from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM in the school gym. Boys and girls ages 9 - 14 are invited to participate in this event. Please see the attached flyers for more information and to register for the event.
Science Fair Judges Needed - Friday, February 9th
Mrs. Rossi is looking for some volunteers to act as Science Fair judges on Friday,

Cub Scout Pack 3 Pinewood Derby Invite - Flyer attached
St. Catherine's Pack 3 Cub Scouts would like to invite anyone interested in joining the Cub Scouts or
anyone who has every wanted to race a Pinewood Derby car (girls included)

Christmas Cards Wanted
As you are putting away the Christmas decorations and tiding up from the holidays, please remember to save your used Christmas cards. We use discarded Christmas cards for lots of different art projects. Please send the cards to school marked to the attention of Art Dept/Mrs. Oskorep.

Pictures needed for our School Yearbook!
This is a plea for your help!!!!! I am working on the 2017-18 yearbook and I am in desperate need of pictures from you. Any photos of classroom parties, school events, and sporting events are needed to fill the pages of our upcoming yearbook. I would greatly appreciate any contributions. Photos can be submitted via email if you have a few that you want to share. If you have a larger number of photos to share, then you could also send them to school copied to a flash drive or CD and mark them to the attention Mrs. Oskorep. I will be prompt in copying the images and returning the materials to you. (If you wish to send actual photos, then I can scan them and return the photos to you.)

Birthday Boxes for FISH Food Pantry - Flyer attached
Catholic Schools Week will be January 28th thru February 2nd. The theme this year is “Catholic Schools - Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed.” NJHS is sponsoring a school wide service project to create birthday bags for the F.I.S.H. food pantry. Students will be making birthday cards and decorating the birthday bags during art classes. The birthday bags will be filled and delivered the following week.
has been assigned a special part for this project. If everyone participates we hope to be able to make some birthdays a little more special for people that visit the food pantry.
Please see the attached flyer to see what your child is being asked to donate for this project. NJHS will be collecting the requested items from the classrooms and assembling the birthday bags during Catholic Schools Week.

Invest in Kids Scholarship Information - *UPDATED* flyer attached
A letter from the Diocese of Rockford was sent out to all school families before Christmas Break regarding the Invest in Kids Scholarship Program. The information can also be found on your Schoolspeak account homepage. Families interested in applying for this program can do so beginning January 24th. Applications are reviewed on a first come, first serve process and money is awarded based on a strict set of guidelines. Please take a few minutes to review the attached flyers to see if your family might qualify.
Daddy Daughter Date Night
Saddle up, put on your dancing shoes and mosey on over for a hootin', hollerin' good time at the annual Daddy Daughter Dance to be held on
Saturday, January 27, 2018. Invitations have been sent home with the oldest child in each family. Please make sure to check your daughter's backpack. RSVP's are due back by January 19th.
Grandparents and Special Friends' Day - Wednesday, January 31st - Flyer attached
Students are encouraged to invite their grandparents or a special person in their life to celebrate mass with us on Wednesday, January 31st. This will give the children a chance to showcase their school day with someone who may not have been here before. However, if a grandparent or other special friend is unavailable to attend, a parent is welcome to attend but may be asked to volunteer as a special person for other classmates who may not have a special person visiting that day.
This event is very well attended so reservations are required.

February Lunch Orders

to place your orders for February hot lunches. The link will remain open through Wednesday, January 24th. Please make sure to place your child's order before the link closes. We will be offering meatless lunch choices on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays through Lent.
Mother/Son Date Night at the Main Event
Date Change: The mother and son event has been moved to

Wristbands will be available for mothers and sons for $20.95 each. The wristbands include unlimited bowling, laser tag, ropes course, billiards, shuffle board, a 4 hour gaming card, 2 slices of pizza and a medium drink. Watch for sign up flyers in your child's folder.
