Family Advent Project
Members from our parish's St. Vincent de Paul Society spoke with all our students this morning to share with them information about a special Advent project we will be doing this year. Students received a small plastic bucket today, along with a daily checklist of good deeds and/or blessings they have in their lives. If the child does the good deed or has blessing that is on the checklist, they are asked to deposit a few coins into the bucket. All money collected in the bucket will go to our local St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Catherine's to help families who are in need in our community. The money and buckets are due back to school on Wednesday, December 20th. Please consider doing this project together as a family during this Advent season.
Dickens in Dundee Living Windows
A favorite holiday tradition at the beginning of every December is the "Living Windows" that are part of the Dickens in Dundee event held in downtown areas of East and West Dundee. Tonight, several of our students will present "We Three Kings" in the store front window at Boxwood, located at 122 Main Street near Emmett's Restaurant. The windows will be active from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Please come by to show your support for our students!
For more information on all of the events taking place this weekend at Dickens in Dundee, please go to:  http://dickensindundee.org/
TRIP (Tuition Reduction Incentive Program)
The holidays are a great time to get extended family and friends involved in your scrip fundraiser. Not only will scrip be a great way for them to pay for the holidays, but they'll also help out in saving on tuition for your family! It's super easy for them to sign up for an account or you can place the order for them. Either way the rebates will be credited to your tuition account. With so many people shopping and giving gift cards this season, why not take advantage of earning money towards tuition! Our next order will be placed on Monday, December 4th.
To set up a new account go to https://www.shopwithscrip.com/ and click on the green "Get Started" tab at the top of the page. Enter in the school code "2CL3966D181" and start shopping! If you have any questions about the TRIP program, please contact the school office.
Hip, Hip, Hooray for our Spartan Cheer Team
St. Catherine's Athletic Program is looking to add a Cheer Team to the list of sports for our school. Girls in grades 5th - 8th are welcome to participate. The team will cheer at home basketball games during the Boys Basketball season along with performing at other school events. The Cheer schedule will not conflict with the Girls Basketball Season. We currently have one parent interested in coaching this team but we are looking for a parent volunteer to help her. If you might be interested in helping, please contact the school office. A flyer with more information will be sent home with students next week.

Notification of absent students
As a general reminder to parents, when a child is ill or unable to attend school, the parent is to notify the school office by phone or e-mail before 9:00 A.M. For the safety of your child, it is imperative that we receive this information each day your child is absent. Written or e-mailed excuses stating the reason and dates of the absence(s) are required of all absentees. This note is to be given to the teacher on the first day back. Thank you!
Illinois Tax Scholarship Information
On August 31, 2017 the Illinois Legislature approved the Invest in Kids Act , which created an income based tax scholarship program to allow low income students more choices in education. These K-12 scholarships are based on financial need, not how well a child does in school. With this new legislation, families are able to choose to enroll in a non-public (private) school with scholarship money available for tuition and necessary fees starting on January 1, 2018. For more information about this program, please click on the following link: www.ceorockford.org . This scholarship has strict parameters for low income families.
