The faculty and staff of St. Catherine's school would like to welcome all of our students and families back for the 2017-2018 school year! It was so nice to see so many of you at the Supply Drop Off Day and the Parent Meeting this past Wednesday. We are very excited to have so many families, new and returning, as part of our St. Catherine's family! We look forward to a great year ahead and hope that many of you will get involved with all the wonderful things St. Catherine's school has to offer!
Welcome to our newest St. Catherine's faculty member!
We would like to welcome Mrs. Margaret Huck as our new Reading Resource teacher. We are very happy to have her as part of the St. Catherine's faculty and we know that she will be a wonderful addition to our school! Mrs. Huck will be filling the Reading Resource position which was recently vacated by Mrs. Leah Herman. Mrs. Herman has accepted a full time position at a new school in Hampshire. We wish her all the best and thank her for her dedication to St. Catherine's School and students over the past five years.
Hot Lunch Program:
The link to order lunches for September is now open. Please log on to your SchoolSpeak account and click on the "Lunch Order" tab on the left side of your home page. Orders can be placed through
Wednesday, August 30th
We are not able to add on orders once the site has closed.
As a reminder when placing your child's order, the "extra" option for meals is only to be chosen if you have already purchased the main meal. The extra option does not include the sides and is only meant as a supplement to the main meal.
All students, whether or not they have ordered a lunch, can purchase a dessert for a quarter on hot lunch days.
Please note that we are not offering a Friday lunch option at this time as we still need volunteers to work the lunch.
The lunches this year are helping to raise funds for the following groups:
Monday: Dominick's Pizza Lunch - 5th Grade trip to Camp Ed's
Tuesday: McDonald's Lunch - Athletics
Wednesday: The Texan BBQ - Home and School Association
Thursday: Culver's - 8th Grade trip to Washington for The March for Life
Payment for September lunches is due by
Friday, September 1st
and should be sent to the school office. Cash and checks made payable to St. Catherine of Siena School are acceptable forms of payment.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Oskorep who spent much of her time this summer creating a new garden landscape for our school on the east side of the building where our students gather every morning before entering the building. We appreciate all your hard work, time and effort in sprucing up the school grounds for all of us to enjoy!
New forms for volunteers - Flyer attached
An important change being required by the Diocese this year, is that ALL volunteers who will be helping out at the school will need to complete the attached paperwork and the online Protecting God's Children training course before being allowed to participate in school activities. If you have already completed the Protecting God's Children training you do not need to take it again, however we will still need you to complete the volunteer forms attached to this Dialogue. Please turn the documents into the school office by September 15th. This request applies to all volunteers, coaches, lunchroom helpers, parents working classroom parties, etc. We appreciate your understanding and help in completing this request in a timely manner.

Welcome Back Lunch Event on Sunday, August 27th- Flyer Attached
Our Home and School Association has organized a Welcome Back to School event for all of our school families! The "Meet and Greet" luncheon will be held at Brick's Pizza in Lifezone located at 999 W. Main Street, West Dundee on

. Please spread the word to other families about the great event! Brick's pizza will be giving 15% of the proceeds from the lunch orders back to our school. For more information about this event please see the attached flyer.

Our Athletic Board held their first meeting of the school year on Monday, August 14th. For information about what was discussed, please see the Minutes from the meeting which are attached to this Dialogue.
Home and School Association - Flyer attached
St. Catherine of Siena's Home and School Association will hold their first meeting next Tuesday, August 29th from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Meetings are open to all parents and we would love to have you come and be a part of all the great things being planned for our school families! Please see the attached agenda for what will be discussed at the meeting.
Spartan Care Program
Spartan Care, our after school program, is available everyday after school until 6:00 pm. If you need to register or schedule your child, please email Leslie DeWitt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
School Picture Day - September 15th
School pictures for children in grades PK4 - 8th Grade will take place on Friday, September 15th. This will be a dress down day for students so please make sure to follow the guidelines for alternate dress code guidelines that can be found on pages 31 and 32 in the parent handbook. Picture order forms will be sent home next Monday and will need to be returned by Friday, September 9th. Please make sure to check your child's backpack for the order form. PK3 and retake pictures will be taken in October.
Spartan Spirit Sweepstakes:
If you were unable to attend Fee Day or make it to the parent meeting on Wednesday when we were handing out the Spartan Sweepstakes raffle tickets, please look for them to come home with your child on Monday, August 28th. All ticket stubs and money are due back on Friday, September 29th by noon with the raffle drawing taking place at 2:45 pm on September 29th. As a reminder, this fundraiser helps to offset the operational budget for our school and startup costs for our school. All families in PreK 4 - 8th grade are required to participate. Extra raffle tickets are available in the school office.
