Summer Send Off Event! - Permission Slip attached
Time to retire your Spirit Walk shoes by donating them to the Youth Ministry’s shoe collection! The Spirit Walk has run its course and the First Grade is excited to host a new FUNdraiser in its place. “ Summer Send Off ” will be held in the morning of Monday, May 22nd. The fun fair will include: games, bouncing pony races, a giant inflatable hungry hippo game, temporary tattoos, prizes and more! In order to cover the cost of the fun and games, please send $12 per student or $20 per family along with the attached permission slip. The first 100 students to return their permission slips will receive a free open jump pass to Pump It Up! We are also asking that the students bring in a pair (or more) of shoes to donate to the shoe collection. The class with the highest participation of donated shoes will receive an ice cream treat at lunch.

Permission slips and money are due back to school by Wednesday 5/10.

Teacher Appreciation Week - THANK YOU!
The faculty and staff would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to Susan Tilkian and Michelle Kaufman and our Home and School Board for organizing this year's Teacher Appreciation Week. From the breakfast bistro, the school supplies, the amazing Italian themed luncheon, the flower arrangements, and our gift card pinata we are very grateful for all the hard work and time you spent making it such a special week for all of us! We would also like to thank all the families and parents who sent in gifts for the teachers this week, decorated the classroom doors, and those parents who helped out covering the playground on Wednesday so that the staff and faculty could eat together. Your thoughtfulness made us all feel very much appreciated! Thank you again!   
 

New Ministries are Coming to St. Catherine's Parish!

     If you have been feeling an urge to become more involved at St. Catherine’s, but were not sure what you wanted to do, we have some great new options for you! We are bringing back three ministries and starting one new ministry. We are looking for people who want to help establish and participate in these ministries. They include:
 Greeters before each weekend Mass

Sunday Nursery during Mass

Hospitality Treat Table one Sunday/month

Parish Mentoring Program for our new parishioners

We hope to start these ministries as soon as possible. Please join us in raising $3,000 for our youth to go to the Steubenville Summer Youth Conference this July!
 
Nope - we don't want money, just your gently used/worn or new shoes! Any size, any style, any season, children's/men's/women's! Our goal is to collect 7500 pairs of shoes by June 14 so we can earn $3,000 to help the students reduce the cost of their trip to Steubenville Summer Youth Conference! See the attached flier! Ask friends, family, neighbors, co-workers- anyone and everyone! to bring in their gently used/worn shoes, too! Just drop your pairs of shoes in the collection box located in the church narthex this week.

Home and School 2017-2018
Our Home and School Board is currently looking to fill several positions for our 2017-2018 school year. If you are interested in helping our school raise funds and organize fun, fellowship activities for our school families, please contact our current Home and School president Gina Griffin at gina.griffin@yahoo.com. This is a great way to get involved, meet lots of new people, and help make a difference for our school! Our next Home and School meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 16 at 7:00. All are invited to attend!
 
Flower sales during lunch on Wednesday, May 10th - Flyer attached
Surprise Mom this Mother's Day with a little gift! Four packs of flowers in several varieties will be available for purchase during lunch on Wednesday, May 10th. The cost is $2.00. If you would like to purchase flowers, please send your child(ren) with $2.00 on May 10th so that they can go shopping during their lunch period.
 
St. Patrick's Spring Fling  - Canceled
Due to low numbers the St. Patrick's Spring Fling Dinner for tomorrow night has been canceled. 
 
Athletic Awards Ceremony
This year's Athletic Award Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 10th at 7:00 PM. All students who participated in a sport this year will be recognized at this event.
 
Bus Service Information - Flyer attached
Thursday, May 25th will be the last day bus service will be available for our students for this school year. Please make sure to have alternate transportation arrangements for your child(ren) beginning Friday, May 26th.
 
D300 will still provide afternoon bus service for the 2017 - 2018 school year. If your child is currently riding the bus or if you are interested in bus service for next year please complete the attached bus form and return it to school by Friday, May 19th. In order for students to be eligible for bus service they must live within certain D300 school boundaries. If you have any questions about the bus service, please contact the school office.
 
Danny Blatz Memorial 5K Run/Walk Sunday, May 21, 2017
Come join us to remember Danny and raise money for a good cause. All proceeds from this event will go to Learning Disabilities of America (LDA). The 5K Run/Walk will wind through the Hills of West Dundee and the Tartans Park neighborhood. Registration and race packets will be distributed at Huffman Park on race morning starting at 7:30 AM. Race will start at 9:00 AM. Race fees will increase by $5.00 on race day so sign up early! Please register at www.signmeup.com and select "Find Event", type in the last name Blatz and IL for the state. Thank you!
 
Variety Show - Flyer Attached
Get your act together and tryout for our annual variety show! Tryouts will take place on Wednesday, May 17 from 3:05 PM - 4:15 PM in the school gym. Past performances have included singers, dancers, skits, gymnastics, Tae-Kwon-Do, piano solos, bands and more. Please email Mrs. Johnson if you will be at tryouts to let her know what type of act you have planned. All students form PreK3 - 8th grade are welcome to participate. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Show will take place on Thursday, June 1. Times will be posted at a later date.
 
PARISH YOUTH CHOIR
All students from Grades 4-8 are welcome to join the SCS Youth Choir. Rehearsals are currently Thursday evenings at 5:30. If you have any interest at all, please contact Regina Muscat at youthmusic@stcatherinechurch.com. It does not take much time to be a part of this special Ministry and it has been greatly received by the Parish.

As a reminder, payment for May lunch orders is now due. Payment can be made by check or cash and should be sent to the school office. Thank you!

Looking to save money on your next tuition bill and raise money for the school? Many school families already participate in our TRIP program (Tuition Reduction Incentive Program) and earn back monthly rebates towards their tuition. Families order gift cards through the Great Lakes Scrip Program and receive back a rebate percentage on each card which is then applied towards tuition. We would love to add new families to this program!

The code to create an account is 2CL3966D181. Our next TRIP order will be placed on Monday, May 8th. Please have your TRIP order payment in the school office by 9:00 AM on Monday, May 8th.
