School Absences and Illnesses
With the return to school and the flu season upon us, we just wanted to share a few quick reminders if your child has been sick or has missed a day of school.
  • If your child is sent home from school with a fever, he/she must be fever free for 24 hours without being on fever reducing medication before they are allowed to return to school.
  • Students exhibiting stomach flu symptoms should be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Please encourage your child to wash their hands frequently, sneeze and/or cough into their elbow.
  • Students must bring a note with them when returning to school explaining why they were absent.
Let's do our best to stay healthy this year!!
Grandparents and Special Friends' Day - Wednesday, February 1st
Students are encouraged to invite their grandparents or a special person in their life to celebrate mass with us on Wednesday, February 1st. This will give the children a chance to showcase their school day with someone who may not have been here before. However, if a grandparent or other special friend is unavailable to attend, a parent is welcome to attend but may be asked to volunteer as a special person for other classmates who may not have a special person visiting that day.
This event is very well attended so reservations are required. Please see the attached flyers to see the timeline for the day and to RSVP for this event. Any parents interested in helping with check in or serving refreshments should please contact Susan Holland.
TRIP (Tuition Reduction Incentive Program):
Looking to save money on your next tuition bill and raise money for the school? Join the families who already participate in our TRIP program and earn rebates back towards your tuition. Create your own online TRIP account by signing up at www.shopwithscrip.com and place an order for next week to start earning money towards your tuition. The code to create an account is 2CL3966D181. Our next order will be placed on Monday, January 23. Please have your payment in the school office by 9:00 am.
We are also looking for someone who might be able to help our current TRIP coordinators process orders on a weekly basis. The volunteer would need to be available on Monday mornings from 8:30 - 10:00 to process new orders and then be available again on Wednesday afternoons for about an hour before school dismisses to fill the TRIP orders to be sent home. Please contact Kim Janicki or the school office if you might be able to help. Thank you!
Save the Date! Mother/Son Event
This year's Mother/Son event will be at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates this year on Friday, March 3 . We will enjoy a basketball game with our sons and camaraderie with fellow moms. The game starts at 7pm . Tickets are $15/seat and there is an option for $6/meal (hot dog, chips, drink). We do need to provide a deposit in order to guarantee seats so please kindly drop an email to Susan Holland at susuholland@sbcglobal.net over the weekend to indicate your interest if you haven’t already done so on the Spartan Facebook page. Thank you!
February Lunch Orders
The link is now open on Schoolspeak to place your orders for February hot lunches. The link will remain open through Wednesday, January 25th.
There is still time to place an order for a yearbook. The cost for each yearbook is $18.00 and orders must be received no later than Friday, January 29. Please send your payment in an envelope marked "Yearbook" to the school office if your would like to order one for your child.
Character Counts: Responsibility
As we return to school we will focus on the fourth pillar of our Character Counts program - Responsibility.
The color green represents "strength like a tree". In Romans 14:12 the Bible says, "So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God." As Catholics we have a responsibility to not only practice our faith but to be living examples of our faith for ourselves and those around us. Some examples of how we can show personal responsibility are:
Be reliable and dependable; when you agree to do something, do.
Take care of your own business. Don't make others do what you are supposed to do.
Take responsibility for your actions; don't make excuses or blame others.
Use your head; think before you act; imagine the consequences.
Please take some time this week to discuss with your child some ways they can become more responsible in their lives.
